Student Records:
AVI guarantees the right of students to have access to their files. All grades, records and academic documents presented to students are placed in student’s files. Other materials may be included, with student knowledge. Student records are considered confidential and will not be distributed to a third party without a written release from the student.
The Director screens all applications for completeness and will then select applicants. AVI will notify applicants promptly when the decision on their application is made. AVI Career Training is committed to providing educational opportunities to all individuals who meet the necessary qualifications. Our admissions policy is designed to ensure that students are placed in programs that align with their skills, goals, and educational background.
Purpose To establish clear standards and procedures by which AVI Career Training may grant academic credit or course completion for an applicant’s documented prior learning and occupational experience, in compliance with 8 VAC 40-31-160(D)(1).
2. Scope This policy applies to all applicants seeking admission to any certificate or diploma program offered by AVI Career Training.
Definitions
• Prior Learning Assessment (PLA): A process by which an applicant’s nontraditional learning—such as work experience, military training, industry certifications, or independent study—is evaluated for academic credit.
• Clock-Hour Credit: Credit awarded based on documented hours of prior experience, calculated according to program clock-hour requirements. • Maximum Allowable Credit: No more than 25% of the total clock-hour requirement for any program may be awarded through PLA.
