Flexible Scheduling

AVI Career Training measures your programme in clock hours, not in a fixed timetable. Every programme has a set number of hours you must complete — 600 for Basic Esthetics, 1,000 for Cosmetology — and the schedules above are the class times we run.

If your circumstances change and you cannot keep the days and times you originally chose, you may ask the school to move to a flexible schedule. Instead of committing to fixed hours on fixed days, you commit to a minimum number of clock hours on campus / off campus(Theory Only) each week, attended within our published operating hours. Full-time is 22 clock hours a week or more; part-time is 16 to 21.

Ask the front desk for the Student Request to Change to a Flexible Schedule. The request is yours to make — we will not propose or require it — and it takes effect once the school approves it.

What a flexible schedule does not change: the total clock hours you must complete, the requirement that all practical and clinical instruction is completed on campus under a licensed instructor, that all examinations are taken in the classroom, or your tuition and satisfactory academic progress requirements.

Students receiving VA education benefits: your schedule must be on campus only. No part of your programme may be completed online, and online hours do not count toward your required hours or your attendance. Dropping below 22 clock hours a week changes your training time and your monthly entitlement, and we are required to report the change to VA. Speak to us before changing your hours.

Can I choose my own hours? You can ask to move to a flexible schedule based on weekly clock hours rather than fixed class times. You still attend during our published operating hours, and you still complete every required hour of your programme.

Will it take me longer to finish? That depends on the hours you attend. A 600-hour programme takes about 19 weeks at full-time attendance and about 25 weeks part-time. Fewer hours a week means more weeks.

Can I do it from home? No programme is offered fully online. Where permitted, some theory may be completed through our online platform; all practical training and all examinations are completed on campus. Students on VA benefits complete their entire programme on campus.
